Superhero Artist

Mark Texeira is a cartoonist who has worked primarily for Marvel comics for many years and has done art for Ghost Rider, Black Panther, Moon Knight, and many others. I like to use his style of art and themes of his art for mine because I think he has one of the most perfect comic book styles in the industry where there is a perfect blend between realistic art and comic-book style character art. It's like mixing Michael Turner and Alex Ross, and getting that perfect in between.

Favorite Pieces

Baby Soldier

This is my favorite piece that I have done. I really like it because not only is there detail and interesting composition, but I think that the message I convey in the picture is very powerful. I've never really done a piece before which was meant to give a message or really pull out feelings and I really like this one.

This is a piece done by one of my favorite comic books artists ever, Michael Turner. I don't think this is my favorite piece done of all time, but I really like it because it is dynamic and it has two of my favorite superheroes of all time in it. These pieces are very different, what with Michael's being professionally colored and all, but they both are largely character based. However, there are mostly differences between the two pieces. My piece is mostly emotional and intense, whereas Turner's drawing is exciting and about superheroes. I can't really think of what my piece relates to in my list of 100, but I know I had both Batman and Spider-Man on my list of 100, so that piece relates to my list.

Stuart Davis

This blog is about Stuart Davis, an artist who was born on December 7, 1892.

Stuart Davis was an early American modernist painter who was known for his jazzy style. His paintings were very colorful and bold. He was born in Philadelphia. His father worked as the art editor of the Philadelphia Press while his mother worked as a painter. Davis studied painting, and art under Robert Henri, the leader of the early modern art group the Eight; he was one of the youngest painters to exhibit in the controversial Armory Show of 1913. He is most famous for his abstract still lives and landscapes. He is considered a proto-Pop artist for his use of contemporary subject matter such as cigarette packages, spark plug advertisements, and the contemporary American landscape. He died, due to his Alcoholism causing him a stroke, on June 24, 1964.
